Ben Sunshine, Operations Manager At Waste Cost Solutions Sits Down For A Holiday Chat

Ben resides in South Florida with his dog Chico. This December marks the third anniversary that he has been with Chico, a rescue dog. It was kind of love at first sight when Ben saw Chico. “I was actually interested in another dog and the day I went to look at the other dog, I saw Chico and we immediately bonded.”

Ben will be spending the Christmas and New Year’s holidays with Chico and other friends. Going to see the Sandi Tree in West Palm Beach and having dinner with good friends are among the highlights of his holiday plans. Being of Jewish descent, Ben is not as avid as others in Christmas traditions and celebrations.

A traditional New Year’s Day Brunch at a friends is in the plans for this season. My roommate’s girlfriend makes an excellent egg and cheese soufflé, along with a macaroni and cheese dish, that are both delectable. I am greatly looking forward to bringing the New Year with my colleagues and these tasty dishes.

Favorite Holiday Memory…

My fondest Holiday memory as a kid was going to South Florida to visit my grandparents, who had a condominium in the North Miami Beach, FL area. We would come down to South Florida the week between Christmas and New Years to see my grandparents and get away from the cold up north. 

More recently, Ben spent the Christmas holidays with friends in New Jersey. I went there for six consecutive years and was considered to be part of the family.



For the New Year’s holiday, Ben and a group of friends would normally rent a house out on the Eastern End of the area, where they spend time together cooking, drinking and bringing in the New Year. One year the group rented a place in the city.

Although he spent most of his life around New York City, Ben has never experienced the ball dropping on New Year’s Eve in Times Square. I once lived about five blocks from where the ball drops, but it’s such a nightmare to personally experience. You’re trapped in compounds like sardines from 5 o’clock on and you can’t go anywhere, even to eat or use the restroom. Worse, it’s cold too,” Sunshine commented. 

Favorite Holiday Song…

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town ranks as Ben’s favorite holiday song. “I like the (Bruce) Springsteen version and just about any celebrity version,” Sunshine noted.

New Year’s Resolution…

“I want to exercise more and play tennis more in the New Year. I had surgery in my legs this past summer to clear my clots out, so I want to take advantage of the fact that I know that I have free flowing blood in my veins. I also want to try getting 1,000 to 1,500 new clients here at Waste Cost Solutions,” Sunshine concluded.
