Waste Cost Solutions Completes Las Olas Building Renovation in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Numerous major metropolitan cities around the world have popular streets and thoroughfares that they are renowned and famous for. Recently the owner of a Las Olas storefront building contacted Waste Cost Solutions to create a new contemporary look to the front exterior surface of the building. Located adjacent to a strapping modern high-rise, the building exterior looked more like it belonged in the French Quarter of New Orleans with its molded columns, plantation shutters, shaped railings and dentil moldings, commented Adam Goldberg, Facilities Director for Waste Cost Solutions.

We first worked on a new design for the updated exterior. Afterwards, we demoed the old columns, railings, moldings and shutters on the second floor. Aluminum plated beams were installed on the top and bottoms of the existing beams. New aluminum railings with 2x2 posts were installed. The shutter doors were replaced with tempered glass and mirror-tinted polycarbonate to create a window/French door look, Goldberg added.
This job took approximately seven months to complete, due in part to the permitting required. We were able to coordinate the entire renovation with the assistance of a roofing contractor, structural engineer, and fabricator, Goldberg noted.
