At An Outdoor Restaurant Enclosure In The Northeast
Turkey vultures by nature are a distinctive breed of bird. Bearing a resemblance of adult male wild turkeys with dark plumage and bald red heads, turkey vultures are scavengers that feed almost exclusively on carrion, decaying animals or meat and its by-products. They find their food using their powerful vision and acute sense of smell. In fact, when a decaying animal corpse is out in the open, you are almost certain to see a group of turkey vultures circling around in the air nearby.
These unique scavengers recently paid an unexpected visit to the outdoor enclosure of a restaurant in the Northeast and the results afterwards were less than welcoming. The restaurant had two overflowing dumpsters along with numerous uncovered waste containers. Both of these issues were the result of a hauler not making a scheduled pickup.
Regrettably, the uninvited turkey vultures scavenged their way through all of the dumpsters and the open containers, perhaps to find scraps of coveted meat and other food items inside, commented Ben Sunshine, Operations Manager, Waste Cost Solutions.
Fortunately, a local junk hauler in the area was contacted to clean up the entire mess and haul off all of the debris from the restaurant’s dumpsters, concluded Sunshine.
